You’re Not Worthy…Right?

From today’s reading…

‘Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?’ But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to examine it. I shed many tears because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to examine it.”

You and I should shed many tears because of our weaknesses, our frailty, our greed, our envy, our slothful, lust-filled ways.

We should shed many tears because despite our best intentions and efforts we will fall short today just as we did yesterday, and just as we will tomorrow.

Our best simply is not good enough.

“Dang, Wes! Nice Thanksgiving Day message, Bud? You might as well pass the bourbon and keep the ice, the water, and the Coke…and throw away the cap! It’s gonna be one of those days.”

Now before you finish that bottle and go rummagin’ ’round for Grandpappy’s .38 Special so you can shoot the messenger, continue reading to the end…and pass the bottle. I keep forgettin’ to write drunk and edit sober.

If that was how you and I were destined to end we wouldn’t even be reading this fifth chapter of Revelation because all would be returned to dust just as soon as we were created.

But that’s not how it ends because there was one…who was indeed found worthy…

One of the elders said to me, ‘Do not weep. The lion of the tribe of Judah, the root of David, has triumphed, enabling him to open the scroll with its seven seals.'”

The only one who was, is, and remains worthy found you and me worthy of His all, and that’s the best Thanksgiving ever.

So knowing you are worthy should help you…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.
