You’re Getting Exactly What You Asked For

From today’s reading…

Jesus said to his disciples:

‘Ask and it will be given to you;

seek and you will find;

knock and the door will be opened to you.

For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds;

and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.’” Matt 7:7-8

You can’t be seeking a chaste life, peace in your home, stability in your job, or joy when you step on the scale if you’re surfing porn, ignoring your spouse and kids while you play video games or build Pinterest boards, or gossip and complain every chance you get at work while scarfing down the daily donuts and bagels in the company kitchen.

What you focus on grows, which is why our world is horny, obese, diabetic, depressed, and angry.

It’s on full display every minute of every day on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, and every major news site that allows comments.

It’s on full display on the freeways, boulevards, and parking garages where road-rage rules.

It’s on full display on the TV shows, halftime performances, and ads that are filled with half-dressed men and women, soft-porn, and ads for blue pills, purple pills, time-release capsules, and cosmetic surgeries for anything you don’t like about yourself.

The truth doesn’t matter if you’re asking the wrong questions, and we’re all asking the wrong questions.

We’re seeking lies instead of the truth.

We’re knocking on doors that lead to instant gratification but eternal death, which is not how you…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.

Now go sell something.
