Your Mother Misses You
From today’s reading…
Anna was sitting, watching the road by which her son would come. She was sure at once it must be he and said to the father, ‘Here comes your son, with his companion.’ Raphael said to Tobias before he reached his father, ‘I give you my word that your father’s eyes will open.’” Tobit 11:5-7
Nobody loves you like your mother.
Anna anxiously awaited the return of Tobias, and you can tell she has a special role to play because she can see Raphael, whose name means “God heals,” who is known for his healing powers and his role in guiding and protecting the protagonists in the Book of Tobit.
As soon as Anna sees their son, she informs the blind Tobit, so he can celebrate the return of their son, who left on a journey to find a cure for his father and returned triumphantly to heal Tobit’s blindness.
If you’re thinking this sounds familiar, it is.
Pinocchio is a similar journey of a son enduring great trials and tribulations to save his father, and we see Jesus, the only begotten Son of the Father, demonstrate the greatest example of sacrificial love about 250 years later, to save us all, while His mother, Mary, watched every step of that journey with a worried, hurt, anxious heart.
So love like Anna, Tobias, Pinocchio, and Jesus.

Be truthful and obey God’s calling.
Learn from your mistakes, which you’ll make when you take on big challenges, and seek redemption when you fall, which is the only way to…
