Your Check Engine Light Is On

From today’s reading…

For we are reduced, O Lord, beyond any other nation,

brought low everywhere in the world this day

because of our sins.” Daniel 3:37

If I drive my car and ignore the check engine light, eventually I’ll end up stuck on the side of the road…in the dark…in the rain…with no cell coverage…and I’ll blame the car manufacturer.

If I eat a dozen donuts every morning and drink a 12-pack of beer every night, before long I will be overweight, sick, and will die early, but not before I blame…the baker and the grocery store for selling me things they “knew were bad for me and I was helpless to avoid.”

If a nation consumes porn, pot, playoffs, and pills morning, noon, and night for a generation, it will also become soft, sick, and die an early death…but not before blaming the Republicans and the Democrats and the school system and Big (insert industry)…and…and…and.

God knows that sometimes, the only thing to wake us out of our self-induced coma is a flood, a tornado, or a near-death experience, which includes today’s Coronavirus.

When you hit rock bottom you have nowhere to go but up.

When you lift your eyes up, your demeanor changes, your confidence grows, and your ability to achieve your goals increases.

It’s why we used to sing “Ain’t no use in looking down/Ain’t no paycheck on the ground” when we marched in the Air Force.

Today we are brought low as a community, a nation, a people, and we brought it onto ourselves.

It’s time to lift our heads up to the source of life, repent, and seek His guidance and forgiveness, and finally pay attention to His commands, because that’s the only way to…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.

Now go sell something.
