You’ll Wish You Hadn’t Asked To Eat It

From today’s reading…

He said to me, ‘Take and swallow it. It will turn your stomach sour, but in your mouth it will taste as sweet as honey.’”

Why is John eating scrolls, why do they taste good, and why would he do it if he knows it will make him sick?

This is similar to what happens to us when we want to be let in on a secret and it feels kind of good to “be in the know” and tell someone else but if the information is troubling it can hurt to know it.

This is what is happening in Revelation 10 today.

John is given the sweet word of God that includes insight into the trials and tribulations that are in store for us all and must share that news as well.

Then someone said to me, ‘You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, tongues, and kings.'”

So be careful what you wish for. Sometimes ignorance can be bliss but take comfort in knowing that you know enough to…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.
