You Were Named In The Womb

From today’s reading…

The LORD called me from birth,

from my mother’s womb he gave me my name.”

Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist by starting with a reading from Isaiah 49 where he, 742 years before the birth of Christ, proclaims the sanctity of life from the moment of conception.

Next, in Psalms 139 we read,

…you knit me in my mother’s womb.”

Pertaining to John—but not from today’s reading—we see in Luke 1:41 that,

When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the infant leaped in her womb,…”

Then a few verses later in the same chapter from today we read,…
