Yahweh Proved Him True

From today’s reading…

He called down famine on the land, he took away their food supply; he sent a man ahead of them, Joseph, sold as a slave. So his feet were weighed down with shackles, his neck was put in irons. In due time his prophecy was fulfilled, the word of Yahweh proved him true.” Psalm 105:16-19

God does this because He is firm and just but also forgiving.

He wants what is best for us, but sometimes we are too stiff-necked to listen, so He sends us an unmistakable message that is painful at times because it’s the only way to get you and me to hear what He’s saying, then He sends us the cure.

Reading this now on your smartphone while sitting on your comfy couch in your fuzzy pink slippers as your Amazon speaker streams endless Musak and your minions drop off groceries, gadgets, and hot meals at your doorstep, it’s hard to fully grasp the pain Joseph had to experience, including betrayal, assaults, ridicule, torment, separation from his family, and the fear of death for years to be in the right place at the right time.

But Joseph never wavered. He placed his trust in the Lord. He rose to the occasion. He showed you and me how to…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.
