Wrath Awaits Your Crime

From today’s reading…

They forsook the temple of the LORD, the God of their fathers,

and began to serve the sacred poles and the idols;

and because of this crime of theirs,

wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem.” 2 Chronicles 24:18

The princes of Judah misled King Joash, who was weak and impressionable, despite being their king. He was so weak and his fall from grace was so deep, that he ordered his people to kill the prophet Zechariah, who was sent by our loving God to warn them that they were on the wrong path.

As a result a smaller Aramean force “did away with all the prices of the people, and sent all their spoil to the king of Damascus.” 2 Chronicles 24:23

Oh yeah, and the servants of Joash conspired against him as he suffered grievously and it looks like they killed him and was buried “not in the tombs of the kings,” but most likely in an unmarked grave with all the other servants, peasants, and paupers, all because he willfully and violently decided to ignore God’s instructions, help, and guidance to…
