Work If You Wanna Eat

From today’s reading…

On the contrary, in toil and drudgery, night and day we worked,

so as not to burden any of you.

Not that we do not have the right.

Rather, we wanted to present ourselves as a model for you,

so that you might imitate us.

In fact, when we were with you, we instructed you that

if anyone was unwilling to work, neither should that one eat.”

2 Thessalonians 3:8-10

Paul is direct.

He didn’t waste time on Snapchat or TikTok. He didn’t light up a fatty and veg in front of the tube all weekend. He didn’t sit around and lament over how comfortable and glorious and respectable his position in life was when he was Saul and could run around arresting, torturing, and killing anyone that gave him the side-eye. He didn’t give you a trigger warning but he was always on the lookout for a safe space because his life was always at risk.

Because he knew his time was limited and his life could end at any moment, Paul went to WORK. (And he sent you to bed hungry if you didn’t work too!)

Paul walked his talk, which made his talking all the more powerful, which is why he accounts for almost 50% of the books of the New Testament.

So imitate Paul, because it’s the only way to…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.

Now go sell something.
