Wise Fools and Fools

Brothers and sisters:

Let no one deceive himself.

If anyone among you considers himself wise in this age,

let him become a fool, so as to become wise.” 1 Corinthians 3:18

Our “wise” politicians passed seatbelt laws only to see traffic accidents and deaths of pedestrians and cyclists increase.

Our “wise” politicians passed “three strikes and you’re out” only to see criminals take more desperate measures to avoid capture, thus increasing the deaths of police.

Our “wise” politicians passed tougher fuel economy standards only to see tax revenue from gasoline decrease, now they are considering a per-mile tax to generate enough taxes to maintain the roads.

Our “wise” politicians passed zoning laws for master-planned communities and cities only to eliminate the “natural surveillance” benefit of living near your work and now zoned neighborhoods are unsafe neighborhoods.

And don’t even get me started on how our wise politicians have reacted to COVID-19.

We all need a healthy dose of humility, and God does not stand in the way of allowing the most boastful get served a huge helping of humble pie.

But start with yourself. Ask more questions. Pray for patience, wisdom, and humility, which is the only way to…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.
