From today’s reading…
In those days, in their thirst for water,
the people grumbled against Moses,
saying, ‘Why did you ever make us leave Egypt?
Was it just to have us die here of thirst
with our children and our livestock?'”
Why are we so ungrateful?
The Israelites were free after hundreds of years of slavery, yet when faced with a little hardship, they lost faith and actually yearned to held captive again in return for food and water.
I’d rather die free than live as a slave.
But we’re all slaves to this very day.
Slaves to sin.
As God shows us the difficult but guaranteed path to freedom we need to remember how this Israelites were provided for even though they whined and complained. All they had to do—and all you and I have to do is—
Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.
