Where To Go To Live

From today’s reading…

You search the Scriptures,

because you think you have eternal life through them;

even they testify on my behalf.

But you do not want to come to me to have life.” John 5:39-40

The Bible is inspired, wonderful, amazing, powerful, terror-inducing, and hope-filled.

In fact,

All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness,…” 2 Timothy 3:16

But is it enough?

Is it the only tool God gave us to lead us to salvation?

Is it the only weapon He gave us to defeat the devil?

Right now we still have the Word of God, but our churches are closed so we miss the human touch of our fellow parishioners as well as the daily bread, the Lamb, which Abraham knew would be provided by God…

‘My son,’ Abraham answered, ‘God will provide the sheep for the burnt offering.’” Genesis 22:8

Jesus Himself instructed us in Matthew 6:11 how to pray, which included a request to receive Him physically as our daily bread.

We are to come to the table daily to receive the fullness of Christ on our tongue, in our mouth, and into our actual bodies.

Imagine how open and vulnerable you must be to get on your knees, open your mouth, and receive the Body of Christ on your tongue in front of family, friends, and strangers.

You could even say it’s an intimate moment. (But the devil has succeeded in degrading the meaning of intimacy, so I’ll just leave it at that for now.)

But, yes, turning to the Bible is a great way to learn bout Jesus and His message, and in so doing, grow closer to Him.

But how can you get any closer than following His instructions to

Take and eat; this is my body.” Matthew 26:26

Turn to Jesus. Open yourself up to Him completely, so you can receive Him completely, because that’s the only way to…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.

Now go sell something.
