Welcome The Trial

From today’s reading…

For if before men, indeed, they be punished,

yet is their hope full of immortality;

chastised a little, they shall be greatly blessed,

because God tried them

and found them worthy of himself.”

We had All Hallow’s Eve two days ago. Yesterday was All Saints Day. Today is All Souls Day where we are encouraged by the words in Wisdom 3:1-9, which describes

  • our souls being in the “hand of God”

  • no more torment

  • being at peace

  • immortality

  • “greatly blessed”

  • we’re found worthy

  • as gold tested in a furnace

  • we are proven

  • taken to God himself

  • we shall shine and “dart about as sparks through stubble”

  • we’ll judge and rule and “understand truth” and have love, grace, and mercy.

But first we must be tried. We must be tested. We must be found worthy, which means we must…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.
