To Persevere Get Grounded

From today’s reading…

…provided that you persevere in the faith,

firmly grounded, stable,

and not shifting from the hope…”

2,000 years ago this is how Paul shared the idea that good things come to those who not only wait, but wait well.

In the Air Force we used say it was “hurry up and wait.”

We got ready to get ready so we could be ready to get ready.

When you speak with combat veterans both on the ground and in the sky they’ll describe how war was a whole lot of long stretches of boredom punctuated by a short, intense burst of death and destruction.

They have lived to tell those tales because they waited well.

They didn’t sit around smoking, and drinking, and playing cards. (Well, not all the time.)They cleaned their weapons. They exercised. They drilled. They studied the enemy. They planned.

Do you want to live to tell about it?

Then remain firmly grounded, stable, not shifting, filled with hope as you…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.
