To Not Speak Is Impossible

From today’s reading…

Peter and John, however, said to them in reply,

‘Whether it is right in the sight of God

for us to obey you rather than God, you be the judges.

It is impossible for us not to speak about what we have seen and heard.’” Acts 4:19-20

More times than not you will be attacked for speaking the truth.

Speak the truth anyway.

Peter was eventually crucified upside down for his unwillingness to sit down and shut up.

As our world and our Church grapples with how best to handle the COVID-19 spread we must speak the Truth as Peter and John did.

They did not “hunker down” when times got tough. Instilled with the Holy Spirit, they rose to the challenge and met it head on, which inspired them to handle even greater challenges.

As the great Stoic, Marcus Aurelius wrote:

Our actions may be impeded, but there can be no impeding our intentions or dispositions. Because we can accommodate and adapt. The mind adapts and converts to its own purposes the obstacle to our acting. The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way.”

Or as Ryan Holiday wrote, “The Obstacle Is The Way.”

The government and Church elders who create obstacles to your freedom and freedom of religion are showing you the way. Meet the obstacle-creators toe-to-toe, because that’s the only way to…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.

Now go sell something.
