To Be Redeemed From The Abyss

From today’s reading…

He forgives all your offences, cures all your diseases, he redeems your life from the abyss, crowns you with faithful love and tenderness; his indignation does not last for ever, nor his resentment remain for all time; he does not treat us as our sins deserve, nor repay us as befits our offences.” Psalm 103:3-4, 9-10

God wants you home with Him, where you belong. He is patient, loving, and kind. He is forgiving. He is merciful.

But He is also just.

So why push your luck?

Why offend God?

Why enter the abyss?

Why do anything that stirs His indignation?

Why make God resent you, even for a moment?

Besides, justice requires repentance and repayment of debts.

Recall the story of the prodigal son in today’s Gospel reading from Luke 15.

He suffered greatly only to be restored to his familial position of prominence.

Be the other brother.

Stay true to your roots and obey your Father always and in all things, since it’s the only way to not push your luck and…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.

Now go sell something.
