Three Cheers For Curds, Milk, and Steers

From today’s reading…

Then Abraham got some curds and milk,

as well as the steer that had been prepared,

and set these before the three men;

and he waited on them under the tree while they ate.”

Abraham was at least 99 years old and was the established leader of his people, yet he humbled himself publicly and profusely.

He generously waits on these men and serves them as a gracious host and servant.

What was his reward? The confirmation that he and his barren wife, Sarah, would have a son before they returned next year.

Are you sometimes—oftentimes—rewarded for your good deeds? Certainly.

But doing right by others and serving others before yourself is a reward in and of itself and it will help you to…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.
