They No Longer Walked With Him

From today’s reading…

As a result of this, many of his disciples returned to their former way of life and no longer walked with him.” John 6:66

Do you think it’s an accident that the chapter and verse of people turning away from Jesus is 666?

Note how Jesus does not reach out and try to persuade or convince those weak in faith to stick around. They heard what He said and knew what He meant, which is why they responded with “This saying is hard; who can accept it?”

So rather than do the hard right thing, they took the comfortable path and turned away from Jesus at first. Then they doubled down on that mistake and killed Him.

Look around right now and see what “everyone” is doing and saying at fundamental topics:

  • “Don’t kill your baby. This saying is hard; who can accept it?”

  • “Marriage is between a man and a woman. This saying is hard; who can accept it?”

  • “Marriage is for life. This saying is hard; who can accept it?”

  • “The government is the problem, not the solution. This saying is hard; who can accept it?”

  • “Women are natural nurturers. This saying is hard; who can accept it?”

  • “Men are physically larger and stronger than women. This saying is hard; who can accept it?”

  • “Males should not participate in female sports. This saying is hard; who can accept it?”

  • “College is over-priced. This saying is hard; who can accept it?”

  • “College is brainwashing students. This saying is hard; who can accept it?”

  • “Common core is junk. This saying is hard; who can accept it?”

  • “The women soccer team is not paid less than the men. This saying is hard; who can accept it?”

When you’re going against the crowd you’re probably on the right track. Accept the hard saying and continue to walk with Him, which is the only way to…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.

Now go sell something.
