Their Eyes Lead Them To Die

From today’s reading…

The whole assembly cried aloud,

blessing God who saves those who hope in him.”

Today we read a powerful story from Daniel 13 where two corrupt elders/judges turned their eyes and hearts from heaven in order to satisfy their physical urges with Susanna, the wife of Joakim.

Because the testimony of two men were all that was needed to put someone to death—especially a woman accused of adultery—Susanna was found guilty and as she was being lead to her death the young boy, Daniel, was inspired by God to speak up.

Daniel knew how to prove her innocence and as a result the corrupt elders received the punishment they sought for Susanna who chose to rebuff the advances of the judges and remain without sin than to partake in a sinful act to save herself.

Do you trust in God enough to make that kind of decision?

Today be like Susanna. It will help you…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.
