The Truth About Ruth

From today’s reading…

But Ruth said, ‘Do not ask me to abandon or forsake you!

For wherever you go, I will go, wherever you lodge I will lodge,

your people shall be my people, and your God my God.’”

Ruth eventually became David’s great-grandmother by marriage to Boaz of Bethlehem, so she’s an important figure in the Jewish and Christian faiths.

Without Ruth there is no King David. With no King David there is no Jesus. With no Jesus there is no salvation.

Ruth left her people, her land, and her way of life out of love for Naomi. Because Ruth remained faithful and true to her word despite being an “outsider,” i.e. a Moabite, not an Israelite, our Savior’s lineage is created.
