The Queen Takes Her Place

From today’s reading…

The queen takes her place at your right hand in gold of Ophir.” Psalm 45:10

Today we celebrate the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary with readings from Revelation, Psalm 45, 1 Corinthians 15, and Luke 1.

I’ve written several times already about today’s passage from Revelation where the dragon (the Devil) seeks to devour the child (Jesus) as a woman (Mary) gives birth. She was “in the sky…clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.”

Then we see Psalm 45 connect to Revelation with the mention of the queen taking her place.

And we wrap things up with the story of Mary traveling to see her cousin Elizabeth, whose child leaped in her womb when John heard Mary’s greeting. The evangelist greets the servant who is also the queen who carries the ultimate servant who is also the King…because He is the Ultimate Servant!

All kings have queens, and good kings protect their queens. If you have problems reaching the king but can reach the queen, she will take you right to the king who, if he’s smart, will listen to what the queen has to say.

So if you’re struggling with reaching the King—maybe you’re too hard on yourself or don’t feel worthy or are ashamed or just can’t comprehend why God would listen to you—turn to His mother. She is always accessible and will always be a conduit to her Son and from Him to you if you need it….

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.

Now go sell something.
