The Might In The Upright
From today’s reading…
If you know that he is upright you must recognise that everyone whose life is upright is a child of his.” 1 John 2:29
All goodness comes from God.
Evil comes from rejecting God. Heck, the words good and evil, moral and immoral, right and wrong, just and unjust are meaningless without God.
“But Wes, that’s not true. I’m an agnostic-atheist-libertarian-secularist, and I’m good. I’m moral. I’m just. I know right from wrong.”
Oh really?
Define good and evil without referencing God.
Is it good to steal medicine?
What if my child is starving and I’m homeless, and if I don’t steal the medicine, my child will die?
Is it wrong to punch someone in the face?
Yes? Why?
What if I’m in a gang, and I have to attack someone as part of my initiation, and I need this gang to protect myself in my rundown community?
If there is no God, and this violent action helps me get ahead, who is to say it’s bad or wrong or evil or unjust to punch that person?
All goodness comes from God.
All upright people, even if they don’t intellectually believe in God, come from God.
See the goodness and the source of goodness in all upright people, and support them in remaining upright, which is the only way to…
Stay the course.Keep the faith.Endure.
Market like you mean it. Now go sell something.
