The Lord Is Near So Call

From today’s reading…

The LORD is just in all his ways

and holy in all his works.

The LORD is near to all who call upon him,

to all who call upon him in truth.” Psalms 145:17-18

In Revelation 21 today we see the entire city of Jerusalem and “the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel” presented as “the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” (This makes marriage holy, sacred, and between a man and a woman. It also points to why only men can be priests, but I digress.)

In John 1 we see Nathanael turning his nose up to the idea that little ol’ backwater, podunk Nazareth could produce “anything good.” (He’s jumping to conclusions. He’s assuming. He’s judging a book by its cover.) But Jesus wins him over with a compliment, a lesson, and a prophecy.

In the Psalms, as usual, the Old Testament and Gospel are tied together. The Groom awaits His bride, who is protected, and whose name is engraved in His heart. He is there for Philip and Nathanael and He gives them a glimpse of what John would later write about in Revelation.

You and I are in for a heck of a show if we’ll only…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.

Now go sell something.
