The Good News of Peace

He came to bring the good news of peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near.” Ephesians 2:17

You can’t turn on the news for more than three minutes or scroll social media for more than three seconds without seeing the lack of peace in our world today. Murders and angry protests. Jilted lovers and shady ads preying on our fears and insecurities derived from our lack of peace.

The Canadian clinical psychologist turned professor, author, and lightning rod, Jordan Peterson, is both mocked and heralded for his advice to “clean your room” if you want to make the world a better place, and he’s right.

Performing good works such as building a school or digging a well or bringing solar power to a third world village is wonderful as long as your neighbor with diabetes and gout who hasn’t seen or heard from his children in five years has food in the pantry, his lawn mowed, and can get to his doctor appointments.

So before you fly across the country to protest in D.C. or launch your fundraiser to help orphaned kids in China get to America, attend your own city council meeting, join the board of your own HOA, volunteer at a local orphanage or school for troubled teens or home for unwed mothers in your own community because cleaning your room, your neighborhood, and community first, is the only way to…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.
