The Best Plan To Follow

From today’s reading…

The LORD brings to nought the plans of nations; he foils the designs of peoples. But the plan of the LORD stands forever; the design of his heart, through all generations.”

How many powerful leaders, kings, and dictators had their plans to rule the world come up short?

In a world of 144 (now a whopping 280) character limit, it’s no wonder that most people cannot answer that question.

The average person on the street thinks Independence Day in the U.S. is July 4, 1976. (I wish I was kidding.)

They cannot find Iraq or Iran or Afghanistan on a map. Nor can they point to North Korea, Vietnam, or tell you in what country are the beaches of Normandy (or why that beach is significant.)

Dynamite is Napoleon’s last name and King James plays for Cleveland Miami Cleveland Los Angeles.

The bad news is this makes us ripe for strife, upheaval, and maybe even a civil war. (Sheep are easily lead to slaughter.)

The good news is the evil, greedy, manipulative ones who foment discord and plan to lead such insurrections will ultimately fail.

But “there will be wailing and grinding of teeth” in the interim.

So be like the five wise virgins we read about in Matthew 25 today who brought flasks of oil for their lamps so they were prepared to meet bridegroom upon his return, despite being late.

Being prepared is the only way to…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.
