The 6th Man Is The Right Man

From today’s reading…

Coming off the bench as possibly the greatest 6th man in history…the Book of Joshua. (A little b-ball + Torah/Pentateuch reference there fer ya.)

Just two days ago we read how Joshua was anointed by Moses to take over and lead the Israelites into the Promised Land.

Now we see he has settled into his role and is accepted by the “elders, their leaders, their judges and their officers.”

Joshua brings them together in Joshua 24 so their Lord can remind them of how powerful He is by listing the enemies He has helped them defeat. Namely:

• the Egyptians

• the Amorites

• Balak

• Balaam

• the men of Jericho

• the Perizzites

• the Canaanites

• the Hittites

• the Girgashites

• the Hivites, and

• the Jebusites.

It was not by the “swords or bows” of the Israelites, but by the power of God that they emerged victorious.

To remain under His protection, all we must do is…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.
