Take Mary…Into Your Home

From today’s reading…

…the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said,

‘Joseph, son of David,

do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home.’”

Joseph was familiar with Isaiah 7. He knew that “the virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall name him Emmanuel.” He just didn’t think he’d be the one chosen to support, protect, and nurture Emmanuel and His mother.

It’s the same way we look at winning the lottery. We all know that someone is going to win the $1 million or $500 million…we just don’t think it’ll be us.

But someone must be chosen.

Why not you? Why not me? Why not Joseph?

Could an unwed, pregnant mother live long enough to even deliver her baby 2,000 years ago in Jerusalem? Maybe. But having a man in the house sure made things easier, safer, and more comfortable for her and her child.

God knows the power of the family.

God knows how important it is to have a strong father figure in the home.

God also knows how important it is to have a strong mother in the home, which is why he tells us all “to take Mary…into your home.”

When you focus on your family, accept the messages God sends you, and keep Mary in your home, you will…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.
