Take Comfort In Your Punishment
From today’s reading…
“Comfort, give comfort to my people,
says your God.
Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her
that her service is at an end,
her guilt is expiated;
Indeed, she has received from the hand of the LORD
double for all her sins.”
I saw a meme lately shared by a friend of mine whose son is in Marine boot camp and it said
How long does it take the average person to become a U.S. Marine? Answer: An average person will never be a U.S. Marine.”
The Marines have always been the “few” and the “proud.”
They are few and proud because their training is tough. It is no fun to endure but it’s worth it in the end.
The same is true for Jerusalem and all of us called to supper of the Lamb.
It is tough. We will stumble and fall. We will ache and we will bleed. We will pay for our weaknesses and our missteps.
Because it’s fair and it is just.
But you will be proud and rewarded in the end so…
Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.
