Support Strong Stewards

From today’s reading…

For a bishop as God’s steward must be blameless, not arrogant, not irritable, not a drunkard, not aggressive, not greedy for sordid gain, but hospitable, a lover of goodness, temperate, just, holy, and self-controlled, holding fast to the true message as taught so that he will be able both to exhort with sound doctrine and to refute opponents.”

Paul is sending instructions to Titus on how to build the Church on the island of Crete, which Paul did not visit.

Now before you start thinking “Well this doesn’t apply to me since I’m not a bishop,” let me ask you something. Where do you think bishops come from? Do you think they are spawned as fully-grown adults ready to wear funny hats and carry big walking sticks as they wave incense around?

Or do they come from loving families, surrounded by supportive friends who all join together to support one another, especially those called to a position of leadership in the Church?

Remember that helping one another rise up and answer the call of God is the only way to…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.
