Suffer Through Various Trials

From today’s reading…

In this you rejoice, although now for a little while

you may have to suffer through various trials,

so that the genuineness of your faith,

more precious than gold that is perishable even though tested by fire,

may prove to be for praise, glory, and honor

at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 1:6-7

The Marines are few and proud because their bootcamp is hard. Overcoming difficulties together creates tight bonds, which builds strong communities, which build happy, healthy, loving people.

Wanna be a doctor? It only takes four years of college, four more of medical school, then 3-7 years of residency training.

Wanna be a Marine? Pass a tough physical and the ASVAB, graduate high school, and get through the most grueling basic training—12.5 weeks—of all the branches…and not be a dirtbag.

Wanna be a Christian? It takes more than holdin’ up ya Bible and sayin’ some words like ya mean ’em.

It takes living like Jesus, which includes ridicule, rejection, and suffering. In other words,…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.
