Shameface Your Way To Salvation

From today’s reading…

O LORD, we are shamefaced, like our kings, our princes, and our fathers,

for having sinned against you.

But yours, O Lord, our God, are compassion and forgiveness!”

Like the best father in the whole wide world—which He is, by the way—God is compassionate and forgiving.

And like the best father in the whole wide world, He lets us learn from our mistakes because He knows we are only somewhat listening and even then we’re only listening some of the time.

So He allows us to have what my dad calls self-critiquing experiences.

He knows that sometimes we have to touch the stove with one finger to prevent us from sitting on it. Living with that small pain helps us avoid a bigger, more damaging pain.

But in your personal life as it pertains to your soul, how do you feel? Do you feel any shame, remorse, or pain?

The devil’s greatest trick is convincing us there is no sin.

Recognizing the tricks of the devil and the lessons the Lord is trying to teach us is the only way to…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.
