Sell Softly When You’re Given a Big Stick

From today’s reading…

Now it is of course required of stewards that they be found trustworthy.”

The common tripe we hear about how to be successful in sales is that “People buy from people they know, like, and trust.”

All things being equal, it sure doesn’t hurt to be known and liked.

But too many salespeople seek to be known and liked and end up being professional visitors (who end up working in a non-sales job or a sales job at another company after they continuously miss their numbers.)

At the end of the day, all that matters is trust.

We’ve all purchased things from rude people we didn’t know but we trusted what they had for sale.

Now that doesn’t mean you should go out and be a jerk.

But you should understand what it is you have in your possession and/or control over and know the responsibilities that come with it.

So when you’re given a big stick, sell softly so as to build trust, which is the only way to…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.
