Seek…or Be Destroyed

From today’s reading…

The lost I will seek out,

the strayed I will bring back,

the injured I will bind up,

the sick I will heal,

but the sleek and the strong I will destroy,

shepherding them rightly.”

We are backwards, lost, and confused creatures.

On the one hand, we place on pedestals the braggarts who make bold claims and (sometimes) back them up, i.e. Joe Namath’s “The Guarantee,” Conor McGregor entering the UFC cage like he’s Apollo Creed, and Elon Musk saying he’s going to colonize Mars and save us all.

On the other hand we pile on when the mighty fall and we embrace the new champ as though we “knew it all along,” or “Yep. I predicted that way back when,” or “What was Biden thinking in saying he’ll cure cancer if elected President?”

We want to have our cake and eat it too, but we sure don’t like it when we get knocked down a peg or two, do we? 

Avoid even the risk of being destroyed by seeking those in need and helping them.

And if you must boast,

…boast of God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.”

That’s the only way to…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.
