Profit Shamefully, Burn Eternally

From today’s reading…

Tend the flock of God in your midst,

overseeing not by constraint but willingly,

as God would have it, not for shameful profit but eagerly.” 1 Peter 5:2

From the Catholic Church to public schools to the Boy Scouts, people in positions of power, trust, and leadership have abused that power in abusing our most precious gifts, our children.

Others have—and continue to—manipulate, cajole, and persuade those under their care/influence to give of their time, talent, and treasures to the detriment of their own well being just so the “shepherds” can buy larger homes, vacation homes, private jets, and expensive meals.

The “chief Shepherd (will be) revealed” at which time “you will receive the unfading crown of glory” or you’ll literally have hell to pay if you’ve mistreated those under your protection and/or failed to be a good steward of those resources given to you…the same resources you told your flock you needed…the same resources they needed to do without because in so suffering to help you not suffer it would help them to…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.

Now go sell something.
