Perceive How You’re Received

From today’s reading…

When Aaron, then, and the other children of Israel saw Moses

and noticed how radiant the skin of his face had become,

they were afraid to come near him.”

In sales I’ve always taught that you need to first be the same before you can be different.

If you’re too different, too radical, too “new-and-improved,” the majority of consumers will be afraid of switching to you because change is hard for most.

So you must first prove that you’re the same as what they are accustomed to having, using, and owning.

It’s the same toothpaste with great taste and fluoride but now with better tartar control and teeth whitening all for the same price.”

It’s the same thermostat but now it can connect to your home’s Wifi so you can monitor your energy usage and turn it off when you’re away from home.

Everyone knew Moses but they were afraid because they could tell he had changed. Moses had to prove he was the same Moses they knew and loved before he could bring them the message as the “new Moses.”

It’s great to be moved and filled with the Holy Spirit. It’s great and wonderful to be inspired and ready to take on the world to bring lost souls to God.

Just understand that more times than not it’s probably best to speak softly as you carry the “big stick” of the Word of God to those who need to hear it.

Because knowing how you are perceived impacts how you are received, and being received with an open mind is the only way to help those most in need of hearing the message…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.
