Nothing Is Impossible For God

From today’s reading…

And behold, Elizabeth, your relative,

has also conceived a son in her old age,

and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren;

for nothing will be impossible for God.”

The blessings of children. The power of God. The support of family. The value of a promoter.

“Wait Wes. What? A ‘promoter?’ Explain yourself.”

Today we read from the first chapter of Luke, which tells the story of the angel Gabriel being sent by God to deliver a powerful message to Mary, the soon-to-be Mother of God.

While we all know that Gabriel told Mary about her pending pregnancy and birth, he also let her know that she was not alone, and neither would her Son be alone.

The ancient proverb is true: if you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.

Mary helped Elizabeth go farther. Elizabeth helped Mary go farther.

Donald Trump helped Dana White go farther with the UFC.

Dana White helped Conor McGregor go farther in the UFC.

John the Baptist helped prepare the way for Jesus, as Jesus himself reminded us in Matthew 11:10, which was a reference to Exodus 23:20, Malachi 3:1, and Isaiah 40:3.

While going fast is fine and dandy, our ultimate goal is to go far in our faith, which is why it takes a village to help us…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.
