From today’s reading…

They called out louder and slashed themselves with swords and spears,

as was their custom, until blood gushed over them.

Noon passed and they remained in a prophetic state

until the time for offering sacrifice.

But there was not a sound;

no one answered, and no one was listening.” 1 Kings 18:28-29

Elijah mocked the prophets of Baal who showed themselves to be great at garnering the attention of everyone but inept at bringing about real change. Sounds familiar doesn’t it?
