From today’s reading…
Therefore, you shall love the LORD, your God, with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength.”
Moses says this in Deuteronomy today and Jesus quotes him in Mark.
It sounds so simple, like:
You shall floss after every meal.
You shall eat less sugar.
You shall not get into political debates on social media.
You shall have your kids eat all their vegetables.
Why don’t we do what we know we should do? How much better would our lives be if we flossed after every meal, stopped arguing, and started loving fully?
Why is it so hard to do the right thing? Why is it so easy to do the wrong thing? Yes, we’re weak. Yes, it’s the Devil. But why are we weak? Why do we take the bait so quickly, so fully, so often?

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.
