Ezra was a priest in the book of Nehemiah. He stood in front of the assembly and

When you’re in the presence of a superior officer in the military or a dignitary or an elder you stand up to show respect.

That is one of the reasons we stand up to listen to the Gospels. It’s how our Jewish ancestors have received the word of God for thousands of years.

We are to stand and focus because the ultimate superior officer, elder, dignitary has something important to say to us.

And hearing and understanding that daily message then following it is the only way to…
