Learn To Lead Like Lydia

From today’s reading…

On the sabbath we went outside the city gate along the river

where we thought there would be a place of prayer.”

Why did Paul and Timothy go “outside the city gate” to find “a place of prayer”?

In John 15 today we Jesus warning His followers “They will expel you from the synagogues;”.

Paul and Timothy made their way to Philippi to preach and to set the example in how they conducted themselves.

Maybe their reputations preceded them and they were not welcomed in the synagogues. Yet they still honored the Sabbath and they supported one another because they knew what Jesus taught,

For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

(This is one of the reasons why Jesus sent them out in pairs, so He’d always be with them.) Today, we see Paul and Timothy preaching to the women of this important city and like all strong women, Lydia led her family to do what she thought was right, which was to be baptized and to show hospitality to these men of God.

Be like Lydia if you want to…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.
