Keep Your Sacrifice and Oblation
From today’s reading…
Sacrifice or oblation you wished not,
but ears open to obedience you gave me.
Burnt offerings or sin-offerings you sought not;
then said I, ‘Behold I come.’”
Up to 600 years B.C. we were given “The Real Secret” to life.
It wasn’t following the 613 commandments of the Old Testament or slaughtering and burning turtle doves and lambs and bulls and pigeons and pouring wine on the ground.
As the father of seven, I can tell you I don’t need gifts from my children. If I need a shirt or cologne or a new tie, I can get those easy enough.
They show their love in how they conduct themselves both in my home and in the places where they find themselves as invited guests.
As we’ve seen a couple of times recently in today’s readings, walk your talk.
Or better yet, walk and don’t talk.
