Ignore The Ridicule Fool

From today’s reading…

When Jesus arrived at the official’s house

and saw the flute players and the crowd who were making a commotion,

he said, ‘Go away! The girl is not dead but sleeping.”

And they ridiculed him.’” Matthew 9:23-24

We’re well into Matthew now and the power of Jesus is known. So much so that a government official sought him out, “knelt down before him” in public “while Jesus was speaking,” and requested He come to lay His hands on his dead daughter.

Despite His known power, Jesus was ridiculed. He had drawn huge crowds, taught across the land, cleansed a leper, healed the Centurion’s servant, cured Peter’s mother-in-law, healed multitudes and drove out demons, calmed the storm at sea, drove the Gadarene demons into the herd of swine, healed the paralytic, and had just called Matthew to join Him, yet He was still ridiculed.

So don’t feel bad when little ol’ you gets a hater on Facebook or Twitter. It comes with the territory. Just…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.

Now go sell something.
