How To Repay God

From today’s reading…

For who has known the mind of the Lord

or who has been his counselor?

Or who has given him anything

that he may be repaid?”

In chapter 11 of Paul’s letter to the Romans today he references both the Greek text of Isaiah and a little Job. Before Paul’s conversion, he was a well-versed, practicing Jew, so he knew the Old Testament quite well.

In knowing the promises of the Old Testament, he saw them fulfilled in Jesus, which is why he was such a prolific and tireless deliverer of the Good News.

What is that Good News, you might ask? That God’s gifts are “irrevocable,” and those gifts include:

  • mercy

  • riches

  • wisdom

  • knowledge
