How To Cure Your Daughter

From today’s reading…

She replied and said to him,

‘Lord, even the dogs under the table eat the children’s scraps.’

Then he said to her, ‘For saying this, you may go.

The demon has gone out of your daughter.’” Mark 7: 28-29

I’ve heard it said that there are cowards, normal people, heroes, and then there are parents.

The woman in Mark today “was a Greek, a Syrophoenician by birth,” which means she was a Gentile who did not believe in God but she knew Jesus had great powers and her daughter had great needs so she humbled herself and found both the courage and the wisdom to debate Jesus in front of His Apostles and disciples.

Because of this, her wish was granted and her daughter was cured.
