How To Be Good For Nothing

From today’s reading…

This wicked people who refuse to obey my words,

who walk in the stubbornness of their hearts,

and follow strange gods to serve and adore them,

shall be like this loincloth which is good for nothing.” Jeremiah 13:10

I knew this guy who smoked two packs of cigarettes a day. He ate a dozen donuts for breakfast, drank a two-liter bottle of Coke with his 10-piece bucket of fried chicken for lunch, and downed a 12-pack of beer with his rack of ribs for dinner. For dessert, he’d eat a half-gallon of ice cream and a box of Twinkies.

He died at 32, sad, lonely, angry at the world. He had the nerve to scream from his hospital bed “WHY DIDN’T ANYBODY TELL ME TO TAKE BETTER CARE OF MYSELF???!!!”

His parents, siblings, doctors, and his best friend who owned a gym could only squeeze their lips together, squint, and slowly shrug as they shook their heads.

Being stubborn and giving in to your every desire as created, fueled, and manipulated by PR firms, plastic surgeons, and Photoshop experts is no way to…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.

Now go sell something.
