How The Wicked Man Can Live

From today’s reading…

I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked man, says the Lord,

but rather in his conversion, that he may live.” Ezekiel 33:11

Six hundred years before Jesus told the Pharisees and scribes in Luke 5 that he came to call the sinners to repentance like a physician who comes for the sick, Ezekiel wrote today’s verse.

Those who have never been in the military think the purpose of war is to demolish and completely decimate the enemy.

They are wrong.

The purpose of war is to take away the enemy’s will to fight. If that can be done by destroying some roads, bridges, and communication towers without killing anyone, fantastic.

The warrior is joyful—not saddened—when the enemy surrenders.

Similarly, God does not want to destroy anyone and see them spend eternity away from Him.

There is no crime, no sin, no evil you can commit that God cannot forgive.

But you must repent, convert, and turn to Him completely.

Trust Ezekiel, Luke, and Jesus when they say it’s never too late to…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.

Now go sell something.
