He’ll Treat You Like a Dead Dog
From today’s reading…
‘On whose trail is the king of Israel campaigning? Whom are you pursuing? On the trail of a dead dog, of a flea!’” 1 Samuel 24:15
David saved the Israelites. He pulled Saul’s bacon from the fire. (It’s a metaphor.)
He served Saul as loyally as any man could serve a king. So why is Saul so upset that he pursued David like a “dead dog…a flea”?
Pride.
Saul didn’t understand or appreciate the value of surrounding himself with great people and empowering them to do great things in his name.
He didn’t know the adage that “There’s no limit to the good you can do if you don’t care who gets the credit.”
It almost cost him his life today, but, as I mentioned, David was loyal to Saul, and with God’s help, Saul lived to see another day.
If you’d like to live to see another day, enjoy it, and get the most out of it, set aside your pride, which is the only way to…
Stay the course.Keep the faith.Endure.
Now go sell something.Saul's pride almost led to his death. Swallow your pride to...Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure. Now go sell something.
