He Was Made Completely Like Us
From today’s reading…
It was essential that he should in this way be made completely like his brothers so that he could become a compassionate and trustworthy high priest for their relationship to God, able to expiate the sins of the people.” Hebrews 2:17
The show “Undercover Boss” has resonated with viewers for 11 seasons and counting because “the little people” are always under-appreciated by those in the “ivory tower.”
The Big Dawgs seem to always become too far removed from “the staff we love because we’re a family,” and they lose sight of the big picture because they focus too much on bean counting and the stock price.
In 2019, at the age of 87, the founder of Southwest Airlines, Herb Kelleher, passed away.
Many called him one of the best, if not the top, business leaders of our time.
To a person those who knew him remarked on how approachable he was.
How he remembered your name.
How he eschewed titles and department silos, and tribalism.
How he often went down to help load bags, work the counters, and get to know every job in the company.
That type of leadership is the best.
You see it in the viewership of “Undercover Boss,” and you see it in the profitability of Southwest while Herb was at the helm.
Maybe that’s why Jesus led the same way and why you and I should, as well.
Stay the course.Keep the faith.Endure.
Market like you mean it. Now go sell something.
