He Heard Our Cry

From today’s reading…

…we cried to the LORD, the God of our fathers,

and he heard our cry…

He brought us out of Egypt…

with terrifying power, with signs and wonders;

…he gave us this land flowing with milk and honey.”

Moses is reminding the Israelites in Deuteronomy today that God hears our struggles and provides a way out to the promised land.

We show our gratitude by giving freely of our “firstfruits” and bowing down before Him when we do.

We don’t ask for easy times. The Israelites were slaves for centuries then wandered in the desert for decades and are surrounded by sworn enemies to this day.

In today’s Gospel from Luke we see how Jesus was tempted by the devil for 40 days and we know how He endured the ultimate trial for His faith and our souls. But He always gave honor and Glory to God because it’s the only way to…
