Forsake To Follow a Fake Flake?

From today’s reading…

I am amazed that you are so quickly forsaking the one who called you by the grace of Christ for a different gospel (not that there is another).”

Apparently, entrepreneurs aren’t the only ones who chase shiny objects. It looks like it’s just what humans do. We bounce around between fad diets, money-making schemes, spouses, and even religions.

As soon as one gets even a tad bit difficult we stop focusing on the path and start looking over the fence.

What has that given us?

  • Out-of-wedlock births in 2016:

    • Number of live births to unmarried women: 1,569,796

    • Birth rate for unmarried women: 42.4 births per 1,000 unmarried women aged 15-44

    • Percent of all births to unmarried women: 39.8%

  • Abortions in 2014:

    • 652,639 legal induced abortions were reported to CDC from 49 reporting areas.

    • The abortion rate for 2014 was 12.1 abortions per 1,000 women aged 15–44 years.

    • The abortion ratio was 186 abortions per 1,000 live births.

  • Divorces in 2014: there were 2,140,272 marriages and 813,862 divorces and annulments.

  • Splintering of Christianity: There are at least 228 Protestant denominations listed on Wikipedia.

  • Business Failures: Over the last 25 years, 7-9% of all businesses close, but more open. (Using a simple extrapolation it appears that 70-90% of all businesses fail within 10 years of starting.)

  • Incarceration: In October 2013, the incarceration rate of the United States of America was the highest in the world, at 716 per 100,000 of the national population.

It’s time to buckle down and commit to…

Stay the course. Keep the faith. Endure.
